I am absolutely obsessed with this smoothie! It has all the classic flavors of a mojito – mint, lime, and sugar – but healthy, alcohol free, and in the form of a smoothie!
Lets run through some of the ingredients real fast, shall we:
First of all, I know some of you might be worried about adding spinach. Seasoned green smoothie drinkers won’t think twice about adding spinach, but I know some of you will be hesitant. But don’t worry because there is so little that it doesn’t add any taste at all; it just gives you a good boost of nutrition.
Mint: There’s no way around it, you have to use fresh mint for this recipe. You can buy mint plants at almost any store that sells plants for a couple of bucks, but don’t plant it in your flower beds, no no no! I did this a few years ago and it completely overtook my flower beds! Just plant it in a pretty pot 🙂
Lime Juice: While reconstituted lime juice will work, fresh lime juice tastes much, much better.
Pineapple: I’ve tried many fruits in this smoothie and fresh pineapple is the best! It adds the perfect amount of sweetness and the tropical flavor blends perfectly. If you don’t have any fresh pineapple you could add additional honey, but I highly recommend the pineapple. Update– Since fresh pineapple isn’t always handy, many times I substitute a medium-sized organic apple for the pineapple and I love it! It’s a little bit sweeter and I think I might like it even better 🙂
Avocado: I know some of you may cringe at the thought of adding avocado to a smoothie but let me re-assure you that you can’t taste it AT ALL. I only added a small amount to make it thick and creamy. Most people add bananas to their smoothies to make them creamy, but I find the taste to be overwhelming sometimes. But if you must, you could use banana (not sure how much) to make it thick and creamy instead of an avocado.

- ¼ C Loosely Packed Baby Spinach, stems removed
- 10 Fresh Mint Leaves, or to taste
- ½ C Fresh Pineapple Chunks or 1 Medium-Sized Organic Apple (the apple is a bit sweeter)
- ½ Ripe Avocado, peeled and pitted
- Juice of 1 Lime, or to taste (about 1 Tbsp.)
- 3 - 5 Ice Cubes
- 1 Tbsp. Honey, or to taste
- 1 C Filtered Water
- Place all ingredients in a high powered blender and blend until smooth. Taste and adjust the ingredients as needed.
