*First I want to say that I am sorry about the last e-mail that went out for this recipe. I was still working on it and instead of pushing “save draft” I pushed “publish” – wront wroe!!! So if it seemed a bit weird, that’s why! Here’s the completed version:
I know many people are transitioning into fall which means warm spices, baking, and crockpots and a green smoothie recipe doesn’t seem very fall-like, but with the heavier eating this time of year now is the perfect time to start drinking this green smoothie to start your day off right! Since I started drinking this every morning I’ve had more energy, my face has cleared up (well… mostly anyway!) and I feel better in the mornings now.
At first glance this smoothie may seem unappetizing given the amount of greens but I promise, this smoothie really does taste great! It’s so good my entire family has agreed to drink some every morning with breakfast – YES! Not only is it chock full of nutrients but having it blended into a creamy consistency helps your body absorb the maximum amount of nutrition. It also contains a small amount of healthy fat and protein to help keep you full longer 🙂
Here are the ingredients and some of nutrition you will be getting from them in this smoothie:
Lemons- Have vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, and copper. Aids in digestion and detoxification, and is good for your skin.
Kale- Has been shown to lower glucose levels, helps lower cholesterol, can help lower risk of cancer, can help your body detox, has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.
Romaine Lettuce- Contain protein, calcium, omega-3’s, vitamin A (more than a carrot!), iron, vitamins, and minerals.
Spinach- Good for your hair, skin, nails, and bones. Also provides protein, iron, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and can help lower blood pressure, blood sugar, and can help fight and prevent cancer because it contains chlorophyll which helps fight carcinogens from grilling food at a high temperature.
Cucumbers- They contain vitamin K, B vitamins, copper, potassium, vitamin C, and manganese. They are also anti-inflammatory, have anti-oxidants, and support digestion. .
Avocado- Adds a small amount of healthy fat, vitamin K, potassium, folate, vitamin C, and B vitamins. They are also loaded with fiber and may help reduce cholesterol.
Collagen Peptides- Add protein, aminio acids, helps improved digestions, and is good for you skin, hair, nails, bones, and joints. THIS is what I use.
Pears- Extremely high in fiber, Contain anti-oxidants, folate, minerals, and vitamins C, K, B2, B3, and B6.
Apples- They are extremely rich in flavanoids, anti-oxidants, and dietary fiber. They helps with reflux and may also help to fight off cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.
Bananas- Contains fiber, potassium, vitamin B6, Vitamin C, magnesium, copper, and manganese. They help regulate blood sugar, improve digestion, and only contain around 100 calories each.
So what are you waiting for, lets get blending!!!!
*Note- For our anniversary this year my husband bought me a Vitamix – WWHHAAA – I’m so excited!!!!!! That being said, I have only tested this recipe in my vita-mix which blends everything super creamy and smooth. It also has a large blending container and makes 4 or 5 servings at a time. I don’t know how it would work in a regular blender.
