Faq's
Many fruits are high and carbs and sugar and are not recommended on a keto diet. However, there are some low-carb fruits and berries that are lower in carbs and can be eaten in moderation while still remaining in ketosis. Some low-carb fruits include strawberries, avocados, tomatoes, raspberries, blueberries, lemons, and blackberries.
No, fruit dip is typically sweetened with powdered sugar or marshmallow creme, making it not keto-friendly.
Ingredients
Here are the 4 simple ingredients you will need to make healthy low-carb fruit dip:
- Heavy Whipping Cream: Base of the recipe. It gives the dip structure and makes it light and fluffy.
- Softened Cream Cheese: Gives it a cheesecake-like flavor and makes the dip smooth and creamy. Use a block of cream cheese, not the spread, for the best texture. Also, be sure to slightly soften it before using so there are no lumps in the dip.
- Allulose: Sugar-free sweetener that dissolves beautifully and leaves ZERO aftertaste!
- Vanilla (optional): This is optional but recommended. It adds a sweet depth of flavor. If possible, use pure vanilla instead of the imitation variety.
Easy instructions
Step #1: Beat heavy cream until stiff peaks form, around 3 to 5 minutes.
Step #2: Add the cream cheese, allulose, and pure vanilla to a large bowl. Beat until creamy.
Step #3: Add the whipped cream to the cream cheese mixture and beat on low until incorporated. Do not over-beat.
Step #4: Serve with low-carb berries.
Serving suggestions
I love to serve this as a beautiful fruit tray at parties, family gatherings, potlucks, BBQs, or anytime we have company!
While many fruits are high in carbs and not recommended on a keto diet, here are some low-carb berries to add to your fruit tray:
- Strawberries: ยฝ cup of halved strawberries has 6 total carbs and 4.5 net carbs.
- Blackberries: ยฝ cup has 6 total carbs and 2.5 net carbs.
- Raspberries: ยฝ cup has 15 total carbs and 3.5 net carbs.
- Blueberries: ยฝ cup. has 10.5 total carbs and 9 net carbs.
Storage
- Store: Store covered in the fridge for 3 to 5 days.
- Freeze: Keep in a freezer-safe container for up to three months. Thaw at room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving. For smaller portions, freeze in an ice cube tray, then transfer to a freezer-safe container.
Substitutions
- While I highly recommend allulose, you can replace it with ยฝ to โ cup of powdered erythritol, such as Swerve or Lakanto. Be aware though, that powdered erythritol may not completely dissolve and can impart a cooling-like aftertaste.
Variations
Here are some fun variations and add-ins!
I think my personal favorite is the raspberry! I like to drizzle the fruit dip with raspberry sauce and eat it with a spoon because it tastes like pure raspberry cheesecake fluff bliss!
- Classic Marshmallow Flavor: Add some Marshmallow Stevia (to taste) for a classic marshmallow fruit dip flavor.
- Chocolate: Beat in 2 Tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder. Taste and add more allulose, if needed.
- Chocolate Chip: Stir in โ cup of sugar-free chocolate chips. I love ChocZero and Lily's brands!
- Caramel: Drizzle the top with keto-salted caramel sauce.
- Peanut Butter: Beat in a spoonful of peanut butter.
- Chocolate Topping: Drizzle the top with keto chocolate syrup and/or sugar-free crushed chocolate.
- Raspberry: For a raspberry cheesecake taste, stir in and/or drizzle with sugar-free raspberry sauce.
- Lemon: Stir in or drizzle with this keto lemon curd from All Day I Dream About Food.
